# Knight Escape

> Knight Escape (App Store name: "Knight Escape: Chess Maze") is a calm single-player puzzle game for iPhone and iPad by independent developer Ihsan Firdaus. The player leads one white chess knight, moving only in L-shaped jumps (two squares one way, one to the side), from the bottom of a storybook castle-garden board to the gate at the top, in as few moves as possible. It is not chess against an opponent and needs no chess knowledge. Free to start, no ads, no subscription, plays offline, in 11 languages.

- Platforms: iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 or later. There is no Android, web or desktop version.

- Price: free download. Boards 1 to 20 of every chapter (100 boards), the daily board every day and 3 hints a day are free. One one-time in-app purchase, "Full game", unlocks all 500 boards, unlimited hints and the best-route replay on every board, plus every future chapter. No subscription, no ads, no coins, no loot boxes, no energy or timers.
- Content: 5 chapters of 100 boards (500 in all), ordered from easy to hard, and a daily board: a different board every day for 3 years (1,095 daily boards), changing at local midnight, with a streak.
- Rules: the knight jumps over hedges and water but lands only on open floor. Every board has a par, the fewest moves possible, found by a solver. Stars: 3 at or under par, 2 within two moves of par, 1 for any escape; a board played with a hint earns at most 2 stars. Undo, Hint (marks the next square on a shortest route) and Restart.
- Chapters:
  1. The Hedge Maze: A knight moves in an L: two squares one way, one square to the side. It jumps over hedges, but can only land on open grass. Reach the gate in as few moves as you can.
  2. Treasure: The gate stays shut until you pick up every gem. Plan a route that sweeps them all.
  3. Old Bridges: Cracked stones crumble the moment you leave them. You cannot land on the same cracked stone twice.
  4. Castle Guards: Black pieces guard the castle. Never land on a square they attack. Land on a guard to capture it, unless another guard protects it.
  5. Shapeshifter: Land on a rook stone and your next move is a rook move: any distance in a straight line. A bishop stone gives one diagonal slide. Walls and water stop a slide.
- Game Center: 17 achievements. Progress syncs between iPhone and iPad with iCloud.
- Languages: English, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Español, Italiano, Português (Brasil), 繁體中文, Polski, Nederlands. The language can be switched inside the game.
- Privacy: no account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics tools. Purchases are recorded under a random anonymous ID (via RevenueCat) so they can be restored. Rated 4+.
- Genre: puzzle, logic puzzle, chess puzzle, maze, brain teaser, cozy game. Art: soft pastel isometric castle gardens floating in the clouds.
